GOSV currently accepting applications

The Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism has announced the availability of approximately $1,500,000 in AmeriCorps formula funding to award to new operating programs, education-award-only programs, sustaining programs and planning grantees. The funds are available to organizations that operate or plan to operate AmeriCorps programs that address local community needs in education, public safety, health, the environment or homeland security. Special funding consideration will be given to projects that address one or a combination of the four state and federal priority areas: mobilizing more volunteers, ensuring a brighter future for all Maryland youth, engaging students in communities and harnessing the talents of older adults. Public or private nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education, state and local government entities, schools and school districts are all eligible applicants.

Public information sessions are scheduled for 11 am, April 10, 2008 at Prince George's Community College and 2 pm April 15, 2008 at Baltimore City Community College, Liberty campus.
